EAST STAR’s musical journey began during his college days with the black gospel group “Testimony Choir”. Here, he laid the foundation for his music and developed a deep understanding of music and expressiveness. In 2012, he began his full-fledged music career by writing lyrics and featuring in [Fall in Love (feat. EAST STAR)], showing his potential as an artist with lyric writing skills.
He was recognized for his skills by participating in the chorus of Block B’s title song “HER”, and showed his versatility by taking charge of lyrics, composition, arrangement, and vocals in the 3rd to 5th albums of the Dememo Project. This experience had a great influence on his musical activities after forming the F.O.A crew.
EAST STAR began his career as a solo artist by releasing the digital single “You are the Wind” in 2019. In 2020, he showcased his own musical color through his first EP album “Lee Deom”. This album became an opportunity to establish his musical identity and solidify his position as a solo artist.
He also continued to actively participate in various projects such as the collaboration between Migyo X Gyulsam YouTube, the chorus session for Kim Kkot’s [Flower of May] concert, and the “Healing Korea Choir” session for Kirk Franklin”s Korea concert. He also made his way to the TOP 10 on C Channel Gospel Star C Season 3, making his skills known to the public.
EAST STAR demonstrated his outstanding musical ability by participating in the lyrics, composition, arrangement, and vocals of the Dememo Project’s songs “Fall in Love”, “Calm Farewell”, and “Curious”. He added to the charm of the songs with his unique emotional vocals in Mr. Friendly”s digital singles “#Some”, “Envy”, “To You”, and “Binzari”. You can also hear his attractive voice featured in How About You”s digital single “Going to You”.
EAST STAR’s music is characterized by being emotional and deep. His voice is soft and warm, and at times, it has the power to convey strong emotions.
